Strategic warehouse location-allocation problem is a multi-staged decision-making problem having both numerical and qualitative criteria. In order to survive in the global business scenario by improving supply chain performance, companies must examine the cross-functional drivers in the optimization of logistic systems. A meticulous observation makes evident that strategy warehouse location selection has become challenging as the number of alternatives and conflicting criteria increases. The issue becomes particularly problematic when the conventional concept has been applied in dealing with the imprecise nature of the linguistic assessment. The qualitative decisions for selection process are often complicated by the fact that often it is imprecise for the decision makers. Such problem must be overcome with defined efforts. Fuzzy multi-criteria decision making methods have been used in this research as aids in making location-allocation decisions. The anticipated methods in this research consist of two steps at its core. In the first step, the criteria of the existing problem are inspected and identified and then the weights of the sector and subsector are determined that have come to light by using Fuzzy AHP. In the second step, eligible alternatives are ranked by using TOPSIS and Fuzzy TOPSIS comparatively. A demonstration of the application of these methodologies in a real life problem is presented.

Quality of services in banking industry plays essential role in measuring the performance of banks. As customer awareness increases on the services offered by banks, expectations from service quality increases too. Presently, managers of banks use different financial factors such as deposits, credits, etc. to rank their banks. This paper uses SERVQUAL technique to measure customer satisfaction for 14 branches of a bank in city of Kermanshah, Iran. The study first statistically shows that customer satisfaction was not the same for all these banks and then using analytical hierarchy process and The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) ranks these branches using five components of SERVQUAL method; namely tangibles, reliability, assurance, responsiveness and empathy.

The improvement in the provision of banking services to customers enhances bank’s performance (profitability and productivity) and the amounts of dividend declared to shareholders as well as bank’s competitiveness. One means of fast tracking the service time for bank customers is through the use of self-servicing machines, such as automated teller machine (ATM). Total service cost, expected waiting time in queue, ATM utilization and percentage of customer loss are some of the performance indices that are used to evaluate the service rendered by a bank’s ATM. This study proposes a framework for evaluating the performance of ATM by integrating queuing model and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methodology. Applicability of the framework was tested using practical data obtained from four banks in Nigeria. It was observed that the average ATM usage in the study area was less than 50%. The TOPSIS results identified Bank A as the best ranked bank. In addition, the results obtained revealed that banks with two ATM were ranked higher than banks with more than two ATM.

Six Sigma is a philosophy of unremitting improvement and excellence in all aspects. The concept is a satisfactory modification process tool through customers, continuous improvement and stakeholder participation. Six Sigma is considered as statistical analysis, assessment scales and customer-oriented production accomplishments and it leads to defect production reduction. This paper recommends an approach to select Six Sigma projects using fuzzy multiple attribute decision making techniques composed with another concoction tool. Through insightful quarrying of literature, rudimentary criteria for selecting Six Sigma projects were revealed. The fundamental criteria were identified consuming the fuzzy hypothesis test. Having identified the most indispensable criteria, the weight of criteria were determined. Appling FANP techniques. Having calculated the weights pertinent to criteria through three methods, SAW, TOPSIS, and Fuzzy VIKOR, Six Sigma projects were introduced and prioritized. Applying the three methods engendered various results, which required the application of an amalgamation technique, entitled as Borda and it helped to clarify the final project rate.

Retrofitting technologies have helped to manage energy consumptions in residential, public and industrial buildings. However, understanding of the technical and economic considerations for selection of appropriate retrofitting technology is still evolving and divergent. Thus, this study presents a framework that combines techno-economic requirements as a means for evaluating the important retrofitting criteria and suitable lighting retrofit technologies for building projects. The framework is hinged on the unique features of entropy fuzzy and TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) methods. The analysis of the lighting technology selection was performed from technical, economic and techno-economic perspectives. During the application of the proposed framework, four lighting technologies (CFL, T5, E-ballast and T8-electronic) and nine techno-economic criteria were considered. The most and least important techno-economic criteria for the case study were net present value and electricity saved, respectively. The least and most suitable retrofitting technologies were T8-electronic and CFL, respectively, from techno-economic perspective. T5 and T8-electronic were identified as the most suitable lighting technologies from an economic and technical perspectives, respectively. This discrepancy in the results justified the need for the techno-economic approach for the retrofitting technologies evaluation.

Having a supply chain is an unavoidable fact and all companies should focus on if they wish to survive in the competitive business world. This paper ranks criteria influencing on behavior of a medicine manufacturer agent when its goal is to select the supplier agents to interact with across a pharmaceutical agent based supply chain. The pharmaceutical industry is important for countries due to the distinguished role of health in societies and Iran is not an exception too. Besides, the industry in this country is encountered with some limitations because of the situation imposed by sanctions. In this study, first, ten criteria were selected based on expert’s opinions, two categories of quantitative as well as qualitative criteria were chosen for ranking the criteria and then TOPSIS and PROMETHEE ? methods were applied to rank the criteria. According to the results of this survey, qualitative criteria were determined as important factors influencing on supplier selection.

Since independence, India has been one of the few developing countries to invest extensively in both science and technical education. In India, technical education plays a pivotal role in human resource development while creating skilled manpower, increasing industrial productivity and enhancing the quality of life. If a technical institute means to be effective in developing learned and qualified engineers, then it would be useful to know the performance of that technical institution. However, measuring the performance of a technical institution has received very little attention because it is very difficult to measure its output. Thus, this paper focuses on assessing the performance of eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) using a combined approach of data envelopment analysis (DEA) and technique of order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). In the first phase, DEA is applied to shortlist the efficient IITs having the desired characteristics from the stakeholders’ point of view, and TOPSIS method is then employed to rank those efficient IITs while also identifying the best performing IIT. It is observed that IIT Kharagpur outperforms all the considered IITs which exactly corroborates with the findings of the recently published surveys/reports.

Over the years, organizations have witnessed a transformational change at global market place. Integration of operations and partnership have become the key success factors for organizations. In order to achieve inclusive growth while operating in a dynamic uncertain environment, organizations irrespective of the scale of business need to stay connected across the entire value chain. The purpose of this paper is to analyze Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation process for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in India to identify the key enablers. Exhaustive survey of existing literature as a part of secondary research work, has been conducted in order to identify the critical success factors and usefulness of ERP implementation in different industrial sectors initially and examines the impact of those factors in Indian SMEs. Kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA) has been applied on survey response to recognize the key constructs related to Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and tangible benefits of ERP implementation. Intuitionistic Fuzzy set theory based Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is then used to rank the respective CSFs by mapping their contribution to the benefits realized through implementing ERP. Overall this work attempts to present a guideline for ERP adoption process in the said sector utilizing the framework built upon KPCA and Intuitionistic Fuzzy TOPSIS. Findings of this work can act as guidelines for monitoring the entire ERP implementation project.

Selection of an appropriate contractor plays an important role for the success of the accomplish-ment of any construction project. This paper presents a multi-criteria decision making method for contractor selection. The proposed study uses six criteria, namely; Experience, Financial stability, Quality performance, Manpower resources, Equipment resources and Current workload for evaluating different contractors. Using analytical hierarchy process, the study ranks these criteria and finds the relative importance of them. Next, The technique for Order of Preference by Simi-larity to ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used to rank the alternative contractors according to these criteria.

This paper presents the application of the new method in the process of making the decisions on the scooters selection. The Fuzzy AHP method was used to obtain the weight coefficients of criteria, on the basis of which the alternatives were evaluated. The selection of criteria for evaluating scooters was based on an analysis of available manufacturer website. The evaluation and selection of scooters was carried out using a new multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method. The present study tries to identify the attributes like kerb weight, mileage, top speed, fuel tank capacity and price playing prominent role in the buying behavior of the working women while purchasing scooters. Fuzzy-AHP method has been used to obtain the relative weights of the criteria, on the basis of which the alternatives are evaluated using new MCDM. The TOPSIS and MABAC methods were tested under the same conditions. The stability of the result obtained by this method is established through a sensitivity analysis.
