Immigration plays an essential role for population growth in many countries. Immigrants create jobs and opportunities in immigration-based countries. Canada is the host of millions of people from different ethnic groups and regions. Every year, thousands of new immigrants come to Canada and many of them are in the form families. This paper presents a review on studies associated with population growth and immigration policies in Canada. The survey performs research on 128 selected articles from 1958 to 2022.

In this paper, a differential quadrature element method (DQEM) is developed for free transverse vibration analysis of a non-uniform cantilever Timoshenko beam with multiple concentrated masses. Governing equations, compatibility and boundary conditions are formulated according to the differential quadrature rules. The compatibility conditions at the position of each concentrated mass are assumed as the continuity in the vertical displacement, rotation and bending moment and discontinuity in the transverse force due to acceleration of the concentrated mass. The effects of number, magnitude and position of the masses on the value of the natural frequencies are investigated. The accuracy, convergence and efficiency of the proposed method are confirmed by comparing the obtained numerical results with the analytical solutions of other researchers. The two main advantages of the proposed method in comparison with the exact solutions available in the literature are: 1) it is less time-consuming and subsequently moreefficient; 2) it is able to analyze the free vibration of the beams whose section varies as an arbitrary function which is difficult or sometimes impossible to solve with analytical methods.

This paper deals with data mining applications for the supply chain inventory management. ABC characterization is typically utilized for stock items arrangement on the grounds that the quantity of stock items is large to the point that it is not computationally practical to set stock and admin-istration control rules for every individual item. Moreover, in ABC classification, the inter-relationship between items is not considered. But practically, the sale of one item could influence the sale of other items (cross selling effect). Consequently, within each cluster, the inventories should be classified. In this paper, a modified approach is proposed considering both cross-selling effect and clusters to rank stock items. A numerical case is utilized to clarify the new ap-proach. It is represented that by utilizing this modified approach; the ranking of items may get influenced bringing about higher profits.

This paper studies inventory and pricing policies in a non-cooperative supply chain with one supplier and several retailers who are involved in producing, delivering and selling a single product. We consider inventory policies in an information-asymmetric vendor managed inventory. The study consists of different scenarios where a supplier produces the product at the wholesale price to multiple retailers. The retailers also distribute the product in dispersed and independent markets at retail selling prices. The demand rate for each market is a non-decreasing concave function of the marketing expenditures of both local retailers and the manufacturer, but a non-increasing and convex function of the retail selling prices. The primary purpose is to determine wholesale price, marketing expenditure for supplier and retailers, replenishment cycles for the product, and backorder quantity to maximize the total profit for both groups of supplier and retailers. All scenarios are modeled as a Stackelberg game where the manufacturer is the leader and the retailers are the followers. A numerical study has been presented to demonstrate the influences of decision variables and/or parameters in various scenarios. Finally, sensitivity analysis is performed to study the impact of different parameters on total profitability.

In today’s global and dynamic business environment, manufacturing organizations face the tremendous challenge of expanding markets and meeting the customer expectations. It compels them to lower total cost in the entire supply chain, shorten throughput time, reduce inventory, expand product choice, provide more reliable delivery dates and better customer service, improve quality, and efficiently coordinate demand, supply and production. In order to accomplish these objectives, the manufacturing organizations are turning to enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, which is an enterprise-wide information system to interlace all the necessary business functions, such as product planning, purchasing, inventory control, sales, financial and human resources into a single system having a shared database. Thus to survive in the global competitive environment, implementation of a suitable ERP system is mandatory. However, selecting a wrong ERP system may adversely affect the manufacturing organization’s overall performance. Due to limitations in available resources, complexity of ERP systems and diversity of alternatives, it is often difficult for a manufacturing organization to select and install the most suitable ERP system. In this paper, two ERP system selection problems are solved using fuzzy multi-objective optimization on the basis of ratio analysis (MOORA) method and it is observed that in both the cases, SAP is the best solution.

During the past few months, the whole Canadian housing prices were witnessed an up-trend. People could enjoy the low interest rates to buy houses, even foreign investors were interested in participating in Canadian real estate pushing the prices up and up. As the COVID19 disappears, we see an uptrend on inflation and, on the other hand, the government placed some restrictions to prevent foreigners of purchasing houses in Canada. This paper investigates whether the government regulation and monetary policy could influence housing prices in Canada.

An assembly line is a sequence of workstations, connected together by a material handling system, which is used to assemble components into a final product. The economic importance of assembly as a manufacturing process has led to extensive efforts for designing an assembly line to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness of assembly operations. These efficiency and effectiveness can be maximized by minimizing balancing loss and system loss. The current work offers a range based measure for System loss and describes a technique for jointly minimizing balancing loss and system loss. To arrive at the optimum solution of the joint minimization problem, the same has been reduced to sequential marginal minimization problems and simulation technique has been installed for obtaining the optimal solution. For demonstration purpose, one example has been worked out to indicate the strength of the suggested method.

In this study, flooring grade epoxy/nanoSiO2 nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ polymerization method. Nano silica was treated by coupling agent in order to surface treating and introducing of reactive functional groups to achieving adequate bonding between polar inorganic nano particles and epoxy organic polymer. ?-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (Amino A-100) was used as an effective and commercially available coupling agent and nano silica treated in acetone media. SEM observations of cured samples revealed that the nano silica was completely dispersed into polymer matrix into nanoscale particles. Thermal and physical properties of prepared samples were investigated and data showed improvements in physical and mechanical properties of the flooring samples in comparison with unfilled resin.

During the past two years, Canadian economy was on hold since there were many businesses closed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Many business owners decided to ask their employees to work from their homes and working in distance created some troubles for many clients. Businesses asked Canada post to deliver their orders. As a result, Canada post was met with huge orders where most of them were delivered late. It is estimated that supply chain disruption has hurt Canadian economy, significantly. This paper surveys the effects of supply chain disruption on Canadian economy.

This paper examines the determinants of banks’ performance in emerging economies. Sustainable growth of emerging economies depends on the financial performance of their banks’. The determinants of banks’ performance are, therefore, analyzed through panel econometric techniques over the crisis period of 2008-2014 using data of the top 50 banks from the 10 sampled emerging economies. Both banks’ specific and macroeconomic variables are considered in the analysis. Results reveal that macroeconomic variables like GDP and inflation are significant forces behind high Return on Assets (ROA) in emerging economies banks’, however, both negatively influenced the Net Interest Margins (NIM). Among the banks’ specific variables high profitability and NIM are related to high operating costs. This shows that expenses are managed properly in these economies. Further, leverage has a positive impact on both (ROA) and (NIM).While reserve requirement has negatively and significantly influence both profitability and net interest margins, which indicates the prominence of central bank’s monetary policy by considering the importance of liquidity for emerging economies commercial banks in economic recovery phase.
