Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are important in driving a country’s economy and cover the entire manufacturing sector. Therefore, entrepreneurs with specific characteristics are needed for MSMEs to be successful. This study analyzed the exploratory components of entrepreneur characteristics in sustainably successful MSMEs. Data from interviewing 500 entrepreneurs who successfully operated MSMEs were analyzed using descriptive, referential, and multivariate statistics. Analysis of the entrepreneur characteristics’ exploratory components revealed that their Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index was 0.969, and eigenvalues after axis rotation were 6.545–8.899. Four components were extracted: leadership, personality, management skills, and morality/ethics. Entrepreneurs’ characteristics in sustainably successful MSMEs include the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately, punctuality, people management skills, consideration of non-violation of rights, and non-imitation of others.

The company seeks the role of internal function and external partnership to eliminate or reduce the waste generated and its impact on the environment. Internally, Top management needs to commit and actively increase the participation of employees in implementing total quality management and production waste management to enhance business performance. This study surveyed the companies engaged in the industry sector producing finished products while generating waste in the production process. Data collection is carried out using online questionnaires through Google Forms with data analysis using PLS software. One hundred and thirty-six (136) manufacturing companies located in East Java, Indonesia. The results of the data analysis indicated that top management commitment significantly influences firm performance, employee empowerment, and total quality management. Employee empowerment impacts total quality management and production waste management. Total quality management positively influences production waste management and firm performance. In addition, production waste management significantly impacts the firm performance. In addition, top management commitment indirectly affects firm performance through the mediating role of total quality management. However, the mediating effect of production waste management is insignificant in translating top management commitments to firm performance. The result provides a theoretical contribution to developing green supply chain practices and sustainability. Furthermore, the practical contribution provides insight for top management companies that production waste management can improve performance with high management commitment and employee empowerment.

This study aims to investigate and scrutinize the financial performance, represented by the Return on Asset (ROA), considering the mediating roles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The sample selection method used purposive sampling, which used several criteria with the research object being the Mining industry listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) in 2020-2021. The data were sourced from secondary materials derived from several mining companies. The research employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis. The results of the study indicate that: (1) CSR has a significant positive effect on SDGs; (2) SDGs have a significant positive effect on financial performance; (3) CSR has a significant positive effect on financial performance; and (4) SDGs can mediate CSR and financial performance. Companies should consider enhancing their CSR disclosure, as it is positively related to SDG achievement and financial performance. Moreover, regulatory bodies may encourage firms to adopt SDGs as part of their CSR initiatives, which could lead to both societal and economic benefits.

Financial system stability is not only supported by the banking sector, but also the role of insurance companies that operate efficiently. The study aims to analyze the efficiency performance of general insurance companies using two stages of data envelopment analysis during the 2017 – 2018 period. The first stage of efficiency measurement using a non-parametric data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach shows the efficiency level of general insurance companies experiencing a positive trend. The performance of general insurance companies in 2018 was more efficient than in 2017 based on the value of technical efficiency (CRS) and the value of pure technical efficiency (VRS). This means that in general there has been an increase in the efficiency of general insurance companies in Indonesia from 2017 to 2018. Testing the efficiency determinants in the second stage using the Tobit regression model found that the cost ratio is the only factor that significantly influences the efficiency level of general insurance companies in Indonesia. Meanwhile, company ownership and investment adequacy ratio have no significant effect on the efficiency level of general insurance companies in Indonesia. The results of the study provide recommendations to the management of general insurance companies that efficiency performance has not reached the maximum, and to improve it, it is necessary to control costs without disturbing routine operations and development activities.

Data Center energy usage has risen dramatically because of the rapid growth and demand for cloud computing. This excessive energy usage is a challenge from an economic and environmental point. Virtual Machine Placement (VMP) along with virtualization technologies is widely used to manage power utilization in data centers. The assignment of virtual machines to physical machines affects energy consumption. VMP is a process of mapping VMs onto a set of PMs in a data center to minimize total power consumption and maximize resource utilization. The VMP is an NP-hard problem due to its constraints and huge combinations. In this paper, we formulated the problem as a single objective optimization problem in which the objective is to minimize the energy consumption in cloud data centers. The main contribution of this paper is hybrid and adaptive harmony search algorithm for optimal placements of VMs to PMs. HSA with adaptive PAR settings, simulated annealing and local search strategy aims at minimizing energy consumption in cloud data centers with satisfying given constraints. Experiments are conducted to validate the performance of these variations. Results show that these hybrid HSA variations produce better results than basic HSA and adaptive HSA. Hybrid HS with simulated annealing, and local search strategy gives better results than other variants for 80 percent datasets.

This paper presents the results of research on the vibration of the Hyundai Universe bus using an air suspension system and mechanical suspension system when it is run at different speeds on random road surface profiles according to ISO 8608:2016. The research results show that the used air suspension system ensures smooth movement and dynamic safety according to TCVN 6964:2008 (ISO 2631:2003) and VDI 2057:2017 standards. The maximum vehicle speeds on different road classes varied from 105km/h to 65km/h. A vehicle with an air suspension system provided a smaller root mean square of vibration acceleration RMS(Z) than a vehicle with a mechanical suspension system. The root means square of the wheel load RMS(Fz) of a vehicle with an air suspension system is about 99.6% of that of a vehicle with a mechanical suspension system.

In this study, the influence of the volume fraction of the martensite phase as well as the size of the martensite particles on the mechanism of particle fracture in dual-phase steel were examined. A combined continuum/dislocation based approach was used in order to model the average stress in the martensite particles. It was found that the model predictions are in accordance with the experimental results. For the same volume fraction of the martensite particles, the model predicts an increase of the internal stress and the average stress in the martensite particles with increasing the particles size. Since the fracture strength of the martensite depends on its volume fraction, the particle size has no effect on the mechanism of particle fracture. Increasing the volume fraction of the martensite particles results in the enhancement of the internal stress in the martensite particles. However, it has a slight influence on the average stress in the particles. Nevertheless, because of decreasing the fracture strength of martensite with increasing its volume fraction, this parameter has a main role in the occurrence of the particle fracture mechanism.

The current study analyzed the determinants of the Peruvian coca illegal plantations in the period 2003-2019. Hence, the DEVIDA database variables were gathered at first. Then, a machine learning-based technique is employed to select the most relevant variables for the study. That technique, Lasso, selected as accurate variables eradication of coca plantations and pasta base. Both OLS and VAR are employed to analyze the relevance of the selected variables. OLS finds that eradication was negatively related to the dependent variable. Nonetheless, pb confiscation had a positive relationship with illegal coca crops. Furthermore, VAR encounters that only pb confiscation affected the dependent variable. Supplementary tests are carried to ensure the accuracy of the results. In consequence, it is concluded that eradication policies by themselves were not enough to discourage the coca plantations. Farmers should get instruction about alternative crops and financial help. Furthermore, it has been claimed that pb confiscation generates scarcity of the drug, which elevates its price. Thus, coca farmers are more motivated to plant coca because of the higher prices. Therefore, as long as the international demand, which is disposed to pay high prices, the coca illegal crops and its illicit products will exist.

Calculation plate floor concrete, using a static load which is a gravity load consisting of a live load and a dead load, with various of boundary conditions, floor slabs are orthotropic plate, and rarely account for dynamic loads due to vertical seismic loads, with other boundary conditions, such as Clamped, simply supported, ES (Elastic Support), ER (Elastic Restraint), and ESR (Elastic Support and Restraint). Analytical solution based on the Modified Bolotin Method to analyze floor slab under Vertical Peak Ground Acceleration (PGAv), the natural frequency solution based on auxiliary Levy’s type problems. Dynamic vertical seismic loads using multiline, first line at 0 < t < 0.5 is linear equation, second line at 0.05 < t t 0.6 is linear equation, vertical seismic load with two conditions far fault and near fault, multi-line equation are depending on (PGAv/g). A numerical example is given, for various boundary conditions, and far fault, translational stiffness (kx, ky) and rotational stiffness (cx ,cy), from the results of plate calculations due to dynamic vertical seismic loads with 5 types of edge support, ES (elastic support) is the best result.

Higher education institutions, like any business institution, should satisfy their clients (students) for them to survive in the higher education service business market. As a service business, higher education institutions also need to follow marketing principles in their attempt to attract potential students. We investigated the effect of marketing mix dimension on internal and external marketing in universities. The research used primary data from a questionnaire survey of 526 students in West Java Province, Indonesia, and then drew conclusions by a structural equation model (SEM) analysis. The research findings revealed that place, product, price and promotion have a positive effect on external marketing. Whereas physical evidence, people and processes have positive, significant effects on internal marketing. There was also positive, significant correlation between external marketing and internal marketing. The research findings were hopefully beneficial for higher education management, to be made as guidance in implementing their marketing strategy. Higher education leaders may apply the external marketing policy to attract potential student interest and the internal marketing policy to improve the quality of their service and internal marketing. The study delivered a broader picture of the application of marketing mix model on universities. In addition, the discussion presented the implication of the offered theory and practice, the research limitation, and the direction of future researchers.
